Why does the Lemosho route cost more than other routes?

Lemosho requires a longer driving transfer from Arusha to the remote western gate (Londorossi). Additionally, the extra 8-day timeline means paying for additional days of park fees, food supplies, and wages for your guiding and porter support team.

Will we see wildlife on the Lemosho route?

Yes, especially during the first two days. Because the western forest is far less crowded and highly secluded, it is common to spot blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, small forest antelopes, and occasionally signs of elephants passing through the trail

Day 01 :

Arusha to Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Elevation: 2,100m to 2,650m | 7km | 3-4 hours.

Morning drive from Arusha to Londorossi Gate for registration before transferring further up to the Lemosho trailhead. Begin your hike on a quiet trail slicing through pristine, moss-draped rainforest. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp for your first wilderness night.

Day 02 :

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Elevation: 2,650m to 3,500m | 8km | 4-5 hours.

Trek out of the dense canopy into the giant heather zone. The trail steepens as you climb up over the outer rim of the Shira Plateau, dropping down into the wide, high-altitude volcanic caldera plains to pitch camp at Shira 1.
