Materuni Waterfall Hike

Discover the natural beauty of the Kilimanjaro region with a day trip to Materuni Village, the final tribal settlement before the national park boundary. Led by a local guide, you will embark on a scenic, moderately easy 40-minute hike winding through rolling green valleys and organic banana groves. Along the trail, you will learn about Chagga tribal heritage, indigenous flora, and view the mountain slopes.

The highlight of the trek is the magnificent Materuni Waterfall—a towering 80-meter volcanic cascade hidden inside a lush tropical rainforest canopy. Travelers can plunge into the crisp, cool waters of the natural pool at its base for a refreshing swim. After relaxing by the falls, you will head back to the village center to enjoy an authentic, freshly prepared hot traditional Chagga lunch.
